Finally picked up my 12-plate Focus Titanium 1.6 diesel (59k) on Thursday last week, but have returned it to dealer tonight for "repair" and the dreaded "Engine Malfunction - Service Now" message came up yesterday. Now the problem seems to be that when I hit 3000rpm in 3rd and 4th gears the EM message appears and it goes into "limp-home" mode.

I have fitted a friends tuning box on my 1.6 Zetec Focus TDCI (59 reg). The Tuning box is a Rover Ron taken off a Mondeo Zetec S TDCI. It works fine on the Mondeo. For some reason, when I plug it onto mine, an Engine Malfuntion Warning Signal appears and it puts the car into limp mode.

Hi everyone, Looking for some advice please. I have a 2010 Focus 1.6 TDCI (Euro 5), which has done about 68,000 miles. I have had the car for about 15 months, had first oil change at 6,500 miles, next oil change at 8,500 miles (slipped my memory to get it done at 6,000), since the last oild change its been 3,500 miles.
Yes, it does go a bit mad. It looks a bit odd at 1494 sec, when the APP goes to 84%, but the FRP limits to about 1200Bar. Then the worst part is about 1597 sec. APP is 0, but FRP swings wildly up to 1800Bar. It does illustrate a limitation of this sort of diagnostics, it uses the same sensors as in the car.
This happened to us and car ran fine but our diagnostic tool , and the tools the AA have, did not find a fault code. We had to go to a Ford garage to get counter reset. Very recently we had a "red warning triangle - engine malfunction" msg come on and found a fault code logged for the glow plugs. 3 goosed and 1 okay.
